Hooray! Spring is coming and the snow is starting to melt. This has allowed us to resume work on the mast crane deck replacement project. Project leader Al Hallworth organized a work party for March 9 and this is what he had to report:
With many, many thanks to our flawless site superintendent, Logan Moher, and the work completed by our tireless volunteers: Al Borg, Rob Arbuckle, Dennis Christie, Tom Nelson, Brad Chapman, Greg Balsdon, Claus Heinecke; all of the steel infrastructure for our new mast crane dock is now measured, cut, welded and solidly installed.
It appears that the weather is breaking for us again next week, so I would like to keep the ball rolling with two(2) more work parties:
- Wednesday, March 16th at 10AM in the clubhouse.
- Thursday, March 17th at 9AM in the clubhouse.
On Wednesday, this phase of our reconstruction will require 3-4 able-bodied, sharp-minded individuals with electric drills, double batteries, 3/4″ spade bits, too:
- install fascia boards to the east side of the 5 vertical posts.
- layout positions for floor joists.
On Thursday, we will need 5-6 volunteers with electric drills, double batteries, and caulking guns, too:
- install fascia boards to the north and south sides of the dock , connecting them to the permanent docks.
- install “sacrificial” 2″x8″ boards on the west side of the dock.
- install all floor joists on 24″ centers , with spacers.
- install “bumper pads” on east side fascia boards.
- using an angle grinder, remove any excess threaded rods from U-bolts.
The following pictures show the work that was completed during this work party.
