The September 2 full moon is the last full moon of the 2020 sailing season. To celebrate this occasion, I would like to invite you to partake in a full
moon boat trip around the bay. Basically, this means we all start at the same time, sail around prescribed marks located in the bay, and enjoy the sunset and the full moon. Proposed details are:
* Open to all associate and senior members, using their sailboats under sail or power, powerboats, rowing boats/whatever.
* Date: Monday, August 31, rain date is Wednesday, September 2
* Time: The boat trip starts at 1930hr at MP11 – just outside the channel intothe club (sunset is around 1950). So please aim to be at the club by 1900hr at the latest.
The proposed course is MP11 – Race Mark 2 – Race Mark 4 – MP20 -MP11, but may be changed on the day. Any course changes will be discussed andposted at the clubhouse before leaving land. The trip around the bay should takeabout 1 to 1.5 hours. The start will be signaled either over VHF (channel 72) and/or our usual 5-minute race start sequence (horn sounded 5 mins before theoff, 4 mins before the off, 1 min before the start then another at the start. The aim is to have all boats starting at roughly the same time, but this is not a race.
* Rules: Use common sense and avoid contact. This is a fun/enjoyable evening onthe water.
* Need working running lights on your boat
* Prize: No prizes. All participants will be awarded with a fine sunset and a wonderful view of the full moon.
This is the perfect chance for you to be out on your boat under the full moon with the company of your fellow club members to keep the night creatures away. Just remember to bring warm clothing ’cause its starting to get chilly at night
