Corn Roast Aug 13, 2022
A great evening was had by the many attending this year’s Corn Roast. Thanks to the principle organizer, Entertainment Chair Gabriele Borg and her team of Carol Hennessey, Stacey Goddard, Mandy Duffin, Michele Coxhead, Phil Allison, Andy Coxhead, and Al Borg. We all enjoyed the traditional fare of carefully selected (by Gabriele) local corn and hot dogs and an assortment of desserts.
Following the meal, there was a presentation of a framed aerial photo of the club to Robert Currie who had completed 9 years as the Rear Commodore of Sail last fall. Robert had been reluctant to cash in the gift certificate presented to him last fall to Krista Hallworth’s regalia store feeling that he had enjoyed his role and didn’t need any recognition for his service. Alan and Krista conceived the idea of the picture as a means of giving him something that he perhaps would be more likely to accept. The picture was signed by the three commodores that he had worked with during his years as Rear Commodore and the good news is that he seemed to realize that the game was up and that he would have to accept our attempts at recognition. Congratulations and thank you, Robert.
