The event was held at 1900 hr on Tuesday 27 and was attended by 16 members. John Crowe Sr did a fine job presenting the video, relating personal experiences and answering questions about hypothermia and surviving in cold water. The presentation was an eye opener highlighting the need to wear a PFD when the water is cold (less than 15 C). The video showed that it takes over an hour for a person can die from hypothermia, but cold water exposure causes the muscles to stop working within 10 minutes and drowning occurs quickly if the victim is not wearing a PFD. I am sure that several people attending this presentation are going to be more diligent in using PFDs.
