Presqu’ile Point Lighthouse Preservation Society GALA,

The Presqu’ile Point Lighthouse Preservation Society held  its annual gala and silent auction on November 4.  Member Alan H. attended this function and prepared the following report:

I had donated a few excess items to the PPLPS silent auction, and I was curious to see if anyone bid on them, so I invited my friend, Krista S, to join me at the Friday evening gala.

We had a great time. Our table for eight was supplied with one bottle of each white and red wines, the appetizers were delectable, and high school kids (who require community service hours) served us at our table. 143 folks from the area attended, some bidding thousands of dollars for such donated items as a plane trip for 4, box seats at an Ottawa Senators game, and even a stand up paddle board.

Presqu’ile Yacht Club was well represented by such members as Vice Commodore Fred and wife Susan and several Social Members. But the payoff came when the grand prize raffle ticket for $1000 worth of free groceries was drawn. Guess who won. None other than Past Commodore Don V.

I can hear Don calling home as he leaves work one evening saying , “Hi Kathy, I’m just going to run to Brighton for that milk and bread you wanted. I’ll be home in 2 hours”

Let’s hope we can save our iconic Lighthouse
